Tisja’s story

Tisja gets inspiration from the extraordinary, the unusual and the ‘off the beaten track’.  On one of her adventures she came across beautiful hand beaten copper lamps and could all but try to find the source of such craftsmanship. Her journey led her to a small village, where metal works has been the village’s bread and butter for centuries. Their knowledge, dedication and practice get passed down through generations, with no machines in sight, which is reflected in the stunning and unique products they produce. The process, the material and the people motivated Tisja to follow her passion and creativity through design and collaboration.

The warm glow of the red copper and golden brass instantly contributes to a cosy and homely atmosphere in every room in the house. With that in mind, Tisja has carefully designed a vast variety of models that can be incorporated in any style and room.

Staying true to craftsmanship of the villagers, Tisja’s lamps have been designed together with the people and each lamp has undergone an intense and extensive process. These are 100% copper and brass products, with each sporting an individual and unique hand beaten pattern. The original red/gold colour and the different textures radiate a warm and natural light. Whereby the green oxidized exterior make for a unique, contemporary and rustic design.

Tisja laat zich leiden door haar gevoel. Laat zich verleiden door dat wat net een beetje anders is. Variatie en de niet meest voor de hand liggende combinaties maken haar enthousiast.

Tijdens een van haar inspirerende reizen werd zij geraakt door de schoonheid van handgemaakte, hand geslagen koperen verlichting. Eenmaal terug in Nederland bleef zij hier aan denken en groeide haar nieuwsgierigheid naar de oorsprong van deze ambacht.

Een jaar later is ze op onderzoek uit gegaan, en na een lange zoektocht vond TISJA de bron. Een dorp waar van oudsher alle soorten metaal wordt bewerkt tot prachtige producten. Een dorp dat leeft van en voor deze ambacht.

De eeuwenoude vaardigheden worden tot op de dag van vandaag van vader op zoon overgebracht. Er komt geen machine aan te pas, alles is handwerk en dit zie je in het eindproduct terug.

De lampen zijn ontworpen door Tisja van den Brink en worden gemaakt door een klein team van ambachtslieden. De directe communicatie tussen Tisja en deze ambachtslieden maakt het een prettige samenwerking zonder overbodige tussenpersonen. Dit draagt bij aan een eerlijke prijs voor iedereen.
